Like most of us, my life can get crazy busy. My challenge is making time for the good stuff in life ~ friends, family, fun, and me. I need to spend more time stepping away from my iPhone and my laptop.

Recently I was surprised by how much beauty I was missing.

I had popped by my parents’ house, and they were watching the 2013 Canadian National Figure Skating Championships. I haven’t watched figure skating in years. When it comes to slowing down, I have things to do. I always have things to do ūüôā I am working on it, and this pause gave me pause…

The artistry of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir‘s short dance shows why this couple are¬†World Figure Skating and Olympic Gold Medalists. The control and fluidity of Patrick Chan’s short ¬†program¬†was beautiful. Peter O’Brien‘s performance was especially inspiring as he was skating for the first time in the senior men’s category. I loved the big smile on his face for the second half of the program.

I’m going to take time to watch more of the competition today. How are you bringing beauty into your life today?

Nice post, Catherine! Beauty comes along effortlessly all the time. As a dad, I never lack for opportunity to appreciate beauty, as it comes whooshing through the door, around the corner, down the steps or says something special that makes me smile. Like you, my main task is to be ready to soak it in and savor it by not getting too busy.

Hi Carherine- I like watching ice skating too:-) Beauty is always present. The beauty highlight of my day was my man playing guitar and watching our daughter dancing. Nice post!
