“Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy . . . dead!
There must be a better way.”
~ Authentic Success
Robert Holden‘s quotation hit me in the face last week. Tis the season for lots of family and community commitments as well as year end for work with tons of projects to finish before the new year hits. But are we having any fun?
Are you still passionate about what you’re doing at work? Are you looking forward to that night with your friends and family, or is it another to-do you have to check off your list? Are you getting up counting the hours until you get to sleep again? Are you not sleeping at all?
Maybe it’s time to cull your to-do list.
Dr. Holden talks about how when all you want to do is work (home or job or volunteer), it’s the time you most need to stop and take a break. It’s so easy to get caught up. I love what I do, and I wish there were more hours in the day. My partner knows the look. We may be home eating dinner, and Pierre looks at me and says, “You’re still working in your head, aren’t you?” Oops!
What is important to you? What really matters?
Whatever is making you too busy, take a break. No, I can’t tell you how to get that client or your boss off your back. I can’t convince your kids to stop asking for more ~ it’s in their job description, isn’t it? 🙂
If you’re busy and stressed or unhappy, something is broken, and you have a decision to make. If you don’t make another choice now, the breakdown will only be bigger when it happens. You’re worth more than that. You deserve more than that. What new step are you taking?
Enjoy your life!
