6 Ways to Choose Another Attitude

I don’t pretend to be perfect. Sometimes I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. I’m cranky. I’m complaining. My bad attitude feels permanent. I think the whole world should smarten up and do things my way.

But complaining is the easy way out. Changing your attitude takes some effort.

Here are six simple steps you can take to shift your perspective:

1  Stop complaining. Now. Only speak about the issue you have when it can help you resolve it. Talk about what happened or could happen. Avoid all judgements.

2  Take a break. Go for a walk. Get a cup of tea. Shake it off.

3  Read something good. Have a happy quote book nearby. Sign up to receive a happy email every day.

4  Breathe. Take longer breaths.

5  Smile until it takes. Smile until you feel like smiling. Focus on being kind and polite to people.

6  Hook into great music. Find a headset at work or crank your best tunes in the car. Music is a powerful drug. “The key ingredient for our brains is dopamine, a neurotransmitter released when we hear music we love.” ~

We have all been cranky. And we can all get out from under that negative cloud.
