Your Work Problems Don’t Matter

problems

Yes, you read that correctly

It has been one of those periods when I have been hesitant to pick up my phone or check social media, as I have learned of deaths of friends from years ago or their loved ones or life-threatening health issues for others. Of all the topics I have listed on my blog ideas sheet, I cannot concentrate on one.

Because right now I don’t care about your work problems or mine.

Maybe you shouldn’t care either.

I’ll tell you what I said to my cousin at my grandmother’s funeral a few years ago, “If I ever get stressed about work again, remind me of this moment and how work doesn’t really matter.”

Whatever job-related issue is stressing you, ask yourself how much it matters. Will you care a year from now? Chances are you just gave yourself good reason to let a whole bunch of stuff go.

Lighten your load. Be kind to the person who irritates you at work. Thank someone. Take time for what matters. Tell them you love them. Hug your dog. Donate to a cause that needs your help, or sign your organ donor card. Sit on a beach, and watch the waves. Live this day with all the love you can muster.

Sending good vibes to all of you.

    Great advice Catherine, Thanks
My experience is that it is our Ego that drives us to put too much emphasis on work – for external validation. Once recognized, it can be addressed and given the appropriate focus in our life – even if we love our work.

    Keep writing!

Thanks, Brenda. I was hesitant to publish this post after I wrote it. And I definitely need some beach time this weekend this weekend 🙂
